Attention Uber: here Comes Google with Waze Rider – FROG-Tek

there is Already a few months that Google is testing its own service rides. In may, has released the app Waze, a subsidiary of the same name which bought it in 2013, to their employees to share rides up to the company’s facilities in California.

Now, this service, renamed Waze Rider, is now available in the entire region of san Francisco, leaving to be restricted to the employees of Google. The information was advanced by the Wall Street Journal, which adds that the Waze Rider has been extended in the american city over the past few weeks.

As to competition, does not exist, at least for now, a battle so as a staunch by the market as one could imagine. The Google service is only directed to people who are headed for the same destination. For this, the Waze Rider only competes with the services counterparts of the rivals Uber and Lyft, the Pool and the Line.

As the TeK had already reported, there is a fee of 54 cents for every 1.6 kilometres travelled.

However, the users of Waze Rider are limited to a maximum of two trips per day, according to the Verge. That is, a to go for work and one for home.

But this service has yet to be fine-tuned to be able to begin to win users and compete in an increasingly competitive market. The WSJ has experienced the service first hand and was not very satisfied.

According to the journal american, the application Waze Rider does not allow the user to know the location of the driver that will follow you to your destination and the driver could not make use of the navigation system of the app during the route.
