Ford. New camouflage for the game of cat-and-mouse – the Observer

Like all car manufacturers, a little glad with the fact that some of their models are often anticipated by the media, through the images of vehicles captured still in the development phase, Ford has created a new camouflage for the so-called "mules" that have to conduct tests on public roads. And that, believes the brand of the oval, will make much more difficult the identification of the model. Now see:

According to the manufacturer, this new camouflage 3D, that the brand gave the name of "Brick", creates an optical illusion, which makes it extremely difficult for the eyes of those who see it focus on the forms of the vehicle. The engineer vehicle prototype Marco Porceddu, a member of the department of Product Development, Ford of Europe, explains the principle behind the new camouflage:

I Tried to create a design that was chaotic and perturbasse the eyes."

Designed "to deceive the spies of the industry that expect to have a glimpse of the new cars testing on public highways", this new camouflage uses thousands of cylinders to be black, gray and white, seemingly placed randomly in a criss-cross pattern chaotic, making it especially difficult to discern new exterior features, when under the light of the sun. Is by looking at the model in situ, whether it is through the millions of photos that are posted on the internet.

"Today, almost all people have a smartphone and can share photos instantly, which makes it easy for anyone, including our competitors, to see the future vehicle tests," explains the responsible of Camouflage, Ford of Europe, Lars Muehlbauer. "The designers create beautiful vehicles with innovative details. Our job is to ensure that these details remain well hidden," he adds.

note that this new camouflage was designed to withstand extreme temperatures, together with the Winter environments in Europe. Already in Australia and in South America, will be used colors close to those of sand.
