And Huawei formalize a partnership for the development of networks and technology – Azores Oriental

THE US and Huawei today signed a memorandum of understanding for a strategic partnership aimed at the development of joint projects in the areas of networks and technology, in particular, in the development of communications infrastructure, has today been released.

The memo, which marks the start of this strategic partnership, was signed between the executive chairman of nos, Miguel Almeida, and the director of Huawei Portugal, Chris Lu, in Shenzhen, in China at the CEO Summit.

Among the areas targeted by the strategic partnership are the IoT [internet of things] narrow-band, broadband networks, next generation, video, networks defined by software (SDN), virtualization of network functions (NFV), data-centres (data centers) solutions and integrated business.

"The relationship between the teams and the two companies is a long-standing relationship, and that has produced good results. We believe that the joint development of innovative solutions will strengthen the competitive position of the US and Huawei in their respective markets," said Miguel Almeida, quoted in the statement.

"it Is with satisfaction that we have signed this memorandum with the US, a company with which we have a history of working together for more than 10 years. Throughout this period we have worked in partnership, and this is what we want to continue to develop, finding the best solutions," he said, in his turn, Chris Lu.

On Thursday, a source in the executive the Portuguese said to the agency Lusa that one of the main objectives of the five-day visit of the prime minister, António Costa, to China is to attract to Portugal the new technology center of the chinese multinational Huawei.

according To the same source, Huawei is finalizing negotiations with the Portuguese State in the sense of to install in the country a technological center, as have already done the north american multinationals Cisco and Microsoft.

Before returning to Lisbon on Wednesday, António Costa out of Macau to Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, 25 kilometres to the north of Hong Kong, to visit the campus-the headquarters of Huawei – a multinational company that in recent years has developed partnerships with Portuguese institutions.

In the framework of this visit, it is still expected that the Huawei sign agreements with Portuguese universities.
