“We have a clear goal and vital to the next chapter in the history of United States space: to send humans to Mars in the 2030s-and bring them safely back to Earth, with the ambition to stay there for a prolonged time,” wrote the president.
According to Obama, to achieve the goal it is necessary to “continue with the cooperation between the government and innovative private and we are ready to follow our path”. “Within two years, the private companies will send first astronauts to the International Space Station,” he added stating that most of the “thousand companies” are currently working on private initiatives for the Space.

Obama also spoke about his excitement for the space missions from when he was a child in Hawaii and stressed the “great investments” made by his government, since 2008, in the modernization of Nasa.
“I still have the same sense of wonder about our space program that I had as a child. It represents an essential part of our character – curiosity and exploration, innovation and ingenuity, pushing the limits of what is possible and do it before anyone else,” said Obama, reminding that the americans have already sent reconnaissance missions to all the planets of the Solar System, even Pluto.
