The Us announced on Friday that it has formalized a strategic partnership with Huawei in Portugal for the joint development of technological solutions.

The agreement was signed a few days ago by the president of nos, Miguel Almeida, and Chris Lu, director of Huawei Portugal, at the headquarters of Huawei in Shenzhen, China.

According to the telecom operator controlled by Sonae and by entrepreneur angolan Isabel dos santos, the partnership aims to "the development of joint projects in the areas of networks and technology, including the development of communications infrastructure, data-centres, and video solutions business".

The relationship between the Us and Huawei is not now. Started in 2005, still prior to the merger between Optimus and Zon. On that date, the Optimus, the mobile operator Sonae, has teamed up with the chinese company – which then gave the first steps in Europe – to develop the first pilot project of the third generation mobile technology in Portugal.

Made in Wood, this pilot was the second project of Huwaei in Europe; today, the company provides services in several european countries (170 in the world) and has research and development centres in countries such as Germany, Sweden, France, Italy and Russia.

"The relationship between the teams and the two companies is a long-standing relationship, and that has produced good results," said Miguel Almeida, quoted in the press release. "The joint development of innovative solutions will strengthen the competitive position of the Us and Huawei in their respective markets," added the manager.
