Google Duo will come installed by default in Android, replacing Hangouts – Tecmundo

Google is promoting some changes in the package of applications of Google Mobile Services, which the manufacturers should install by default on the Android phones if they want to access services like the Play Store. From the 1st of December, the Hangouts happens to be optional and gives place to the Google Duo, which should come installed from the factory.

The change reflects the release and the promotion that the company is doing with their new communication applications, Allo and Duo. Until now, only the Duo, dedicated to video calls, it was confirmed in the package, but nothing prevents the company include the Allo in the future.

Virtually all models of smartphones sold in Brazil must come with the Duo installed at the factory.

This means that virtually all models of smartphones sold in Brazil must come with the Duo installed at the factory, in the same way that happens with other company’s services, such as YouTube and Google Maps.

The Hangout will remain available in the Play Store, but with the investment that Google has been doing in Allo and their artificial intelligence would not be surprising to see the service receiving less attention that the new messaging app from the company.
