Volvo anticipates future range “40″ with two new concepts – Turbo

Volvo unveiled two models that demonstrate the continued approach of the brand to the premium segment, with the revelation of concepts 40.1 and 40.2 to announce the next generation of compact Nordic manufacturer. As the name implies, these prototypes foresee the lines of the range 40 (currently composed of the V40 and V40 Cross Country), which will now incorporate some of the stylistic codes already implemented models of higher dimensions, such as the optical format with “Thor’s Hammer” that sees, for example, the XC90.

These two concepts 40.1 and 40.2 were also responsible for premiering the new CMA modular platform that will be used in the manufacture of the next generation of compact Volvo, which will appear on the market from 2017. Among these advantages the this platform stands out immediately the greater creative freedom offered to designers, but also the way this structure is already prepared to accommodate alternative powertrains, with Volvo to announce already that the next “40″ will include in the offer a model 100 % electric and also a hybrid variant of Plug-in. Analyzing the image of two models revealed by Swedish brand, in the case of 40.1 are in the presence of a compact five-door which apparently points to the future lines of the models Volvo V40 and V40 Cross Country, while the concept 40.2 may mean the introduction also a future crossover in the range, as the seductive lines of this prototype point towards this segment.

Volvo also unveiled a series of videos dedicated to these two prototypes, which includes presentation of films of models and other dedicated to explain the new CMA platform also focusing on the introduction of electric vehicles, and even on E3 and T5 Twin engines.
