Google says no to request on right to be forgotten in the world – SAPO Tek

Google has filed an appeal against an order of the National Informatics and Liberties (CNIL), the French regulatory agency data protection, universally apply the right to be forgotten.

The case dates back to may 2014, when the Court of Justice of the European Union has determined that internet users can ask search engines like Google and Bing, Microsoft, which remove incorrect, inaccurate or irrelevant information about you of the results, in what is called “right to be forgotten”.

the decision is valid only for the citizens of the European Union and so Google confined to “locally”. The CNIL think the effect should be global, that is, applied to the results, and decided to require the search engine to pass to apply such scope, in accordance with the rules adopted in France.

The answer search engine of Alphabet now comes spent nearly a year and is negative. “If the French law is applicable globally, how long will it be until other countries – perhaps less open and democratic – begin to demand that their laws regulating information may also have a global reach,” said in a statement <. / p>

the technology giant says it is complying with the decision of the European Court of Justice on the right to be forgotten in all EU countries. Therefore, “since 2014 has already analyzed more than 1.5 million web pages and desindexou about 40%.”

Disagreeing with the requirements of the CNIL decided to appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court and French says wait for a decision “which would maintain the right of citizens worldwide to access legal information.”
