Sony released a new video showing the PlayStation VR, his next virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4. In addition to providing a look at the headset design, the video also shows the device hardware specifications.
According to the video, PlayStation VR will feature a “5.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, a field-view of about 100 degrees, an accelerometer and gyroscope, tracking position with nine LED, 3D audio, and also HDMI and USB.
On a interview with GameSpot at Paris Games Week, Shuhei Yoshida of Sony said the company “is not yet ready to announce a date and price for the product.”
He continued: “Tokyo is working hard to create system software and SDK made and continually improve it, to make sure that the experience will be great for customers and developers. We also want to make sure that when we launched we also have a good one. Selection of games, so it’s a little too early to decide a price and date. “
Nevertheless, Sony has previously said that the PlayStation VR would be available in the first half of 2016 which is mentioned again in the video above. The President of the PlayStation Andrew House also said that the headset will have a fixed price “as a new game platform,” though he did not provide specific numbers
