After announcing it will lay off 7800 employees, Microsoft said on Wednesday (8) that its workforce in Brazil will be affected by the cuts.
The layoffs are part a restructuring of the company’s Windows Phone unit. The layoffs will affect especially the activities undertaken with the purchase of the Finnish manufacturer Nokia phones, completed last year.
When asked by G1 , the company did not say what will be the size the switching stations in Brazil. Microsoft does not disclose how many Brazilians are employed in the Windows Phone area, but reports have 2400 workers in the country.
Microsoft smartphones sold in Brazil are produced nationally, the factory in Free Zone Manaus, when imported from various countries.
The company will reserve an amount between $ 750 million and $ 850 million to cope with the disconnections in the world.
