The fire broke out around 17:00 on Wednesday in Foz do Rego, Heath da Caparica, was once considered extinct, but the aftermath operations should continue for a few more hours, firefighters reported.
According to the District Centre of Relief Operations (CDOS) of Setúbal, more than 80 operations, including firefighters and members of the GNR, with the support of 28 vehicles, ensure the implementation of the aftermath operations, which should last for a few hours.
The fire alarm was given at 17:12 on Wednesday, having been mobilized to the site two planes `Fire Boss’ and more than a hundred firefighters and elements of the GNR.
The flames were close to some houses, but according to the CDOS, there were no houses at risk and also no knowledge of personal injury caused by fire.
Despite the proximity of the fossil cliff da Caparica, the fire turned out to propagate in the opposite direction, destroying a kill zone, but without affecting that area of protected landscape.
