The Parliamentary Committee for Ethics, Citizenship and Communication decided yesterday to lift the immunity to PSD deputy and former Minister of Internal Affairs, Miguel Macedo, to be heard by the Public Ministry (MP) in the case of visas gold .
In a special meeting in camera, the 12th commission of the National Assembly unanimously approved the report by the PSD Mr Sergio Azevedo.
On the same day that analyzed the situation of Macedo, the Ethics Commission received a new request from the MP to resolve the lifting of the immunity of socialist deputy Rui Pedro Duarte, accused in the case of falsification of records militants in Coimbra.
According to the MP there are “practice evidence of a continuing offense of forgery foreseen in the Criminal Code.” At issue is an investigation around suspected illegalities that have occurred in 2011 in affiliation process of new members in the PS when Rui Duarte presided over the district council of the Socialists.
In the case of Miguel Macedo, charged with three counts of dereliction of duty and one of influence peddling – involves a higher penalty of imprisonment to three years in prison – will now be heard by the MP and will consist accused
