Footwear sector has received this year five million in European funds – publico

                 

                         
                     

                 

 
                         

Under the North in 2020, regional operational program of the new Community support framework, the footwear industry has received more than five million since the beginning of the year. The money was channeled to 16 projects, according to information from the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of the North (CCDRN) that oversees the regional program.


                     

                         “About 62% of the presented investment competition in Portugal in 2020 comes from North of companies in Portugal,” said the president of CCDRN, Emidio Gomes, during a visit to Micam, the most prestigious international fair of footwear, which runs until Friday -feira in Milan, Italy. The official also said the weight of northern Portugal at this fair. “I think 91 or 92 companies that are here are North,” he said. In fact, Portugal is represented in this international event by 93 organizations.

The companies in this region benefited from higher incentives to 14 million euros under the ON.2 The New North, the regional operational program which ran between 2007 and 2013 and whose financial execution ends this year compared to some projects. Are regional entities that “contribute greatly to the export of more than 95% of national production of footwear”, also highlights the CCDR in a statement.

In total, that program has supported 125 sector projects , including 40 involved in the manufacture of footwear, 37 in wholesale trade, 18 the manufacture of components, 17 related to the sale of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods ten in retail trade, two production plastic components and the rubber components.
