Four families displaced in Angra do Heroism – Journal News

According to the regional delegate of the Sea Portuguese Institute and the Atmosphere (IPMA), Diamantino Henriques, between 14 and 15 hours (local time) rained 19 liters per square meter in a part of the Island, in the central group, but rain intensified in the next hour, having registered 36 liters per square meter between 15 and 16.

Due to heavy rains, civil protection noted “64 occurrences” in Angra do Heroismo, especially housing flood situations.

Two creeks overflowed, one in the parish of St. Benedict and another in the village of Riverside, near the city of Angra do Heroísmo.

There are several roads cut transit and the Civil Protection has no estimate of when will again be passable, because the Terceira Island (core group) remains under yellow warning.

According to the meteorologist IPMA Carlos Ramalho, a “line of instability “remains in the archipelago, but is up to shift eastwards, it is possible to reach the island of São Miguel (Eastern Group) in the coming hours.
