Civil protection Azores warned on Tuesday for the rainfall forecast in the archipelago in the coming hours, with seven islands under orange warning weather.
The islands of the central group (Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Faial and Pico) and the eastern group (São Miguel and Santa Maria) will be under orange warning, the more serious the second issued by the Sea Portuguese Institute and the Atmosphere (IPMA) on a scale of four, because of the rain, until 08:00 on Wednesday.
The Civil Protection said the yellow warning (less serious) because of trovadas, frequent and spread to the islands of the central and eastern group also until 08:00 on Wednesday.
Under the Sea Portuguese Institute and the Atmosphere (IPMA), “a depression within an unstable air mass and humid southwest of the Azores will move over the region causing rainfall sometimes strong, in Central and Eastern groups. ”
The orange warning is issued when the weather situation is considered moderate to high risk.
In a statement, the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service advises Azores “appropriate behavior” to these forecasts to the population, “particularly in the most vulnerable areas.”
