About 40% of households in the municipality of Braga – totaling a number greater than 25,000 households – will benefit from the rate reduction of municipal property tax (IMI), approved by the municipality of Braga to 22 June.
One of the most innovative factors of the approved proposal focuses on the introduction of a mitigation of 10% in IMI, to be applied in buildings for permanent residence, when the number of dependents who make up the household for less than two elements .
In this way, the municipality of Braga ensures a direct financial benefit to families, following a policy of social responsibility developed by the current executive.
The proposal also include a mitigation of 20% of the rate
for rehabilitated buildings, for housing, encouraging thus the urban renewal, the settlement of people and attracting new residents. Also in relation to IMI, the amount charged for urban buildings will be 0.35%.
The city of Braga decided to also include a reduction of 50% for urban property leased, whose contracts have been concluded under municipal program ‘fits you’, thus promoting the cultural and creative activities and enhancing commercial bias of the historic city center.
On the other hand, a rate with increase of 30% will apply to apply to degraded urban buildings, considering as such those who do not satisfactorily fulfill their function or may endanger the safety of goods and people.
