Eighty percent of the fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in Foz do Rego, the Heath da Caparica , is already mastered, but around 21:30 there was still an active front that was being fought by 122 operational.
According to the District Centre of Relief Operations (CDOS) Setubal, “about 80% of the fire is already dominated” but in fighting the flames remain 122 operational backed by 41 vehicles.
The intense smoke caused disquiet amongst some residents of a residential area, but the CDOS ensure that there were no houses in danger and that the fire did not affect the protected landscape area of the fossil cliff.
