But more than that for his country, the news is obviously important to Pichai, serving as an affirmation of a journey made much effort and some wins.
Pichai was born and brought up in Chennai, India. At school, he was captain of the cricket team and dreamed of being an engineer. The dream was fulfilled when he joined the course in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, where he shone.
The humble beginnings of Pichai helped us early on to fight for their goals. The family lived in a house with only two rooms and Pichai slept on the living room floor to be with the younger brother. They had no TV, no car and were only able to have telephone at home when Pichai was 12.
