Five Xávega Art shipwrecked fishermen in Praia da Vieira – publico

                 


                         
                     

                 

 
                         

Five fishermen were rescued on Thursday by another vessel in Praia da Vieira, in the district of Marinha Grande in the district of Leiria, after their boat sunk, reported Nazaré Port Captaincy Lusa.

                     


                          According to the commander of the Port Captaincy of Nazareth, Lawrence Gorricho a vessel of Xávega art “took a change of the sea” and “the boat began taking on water”, sinking. The five crew members were rescued “by another vessel, also Xávega art”, added the same source.

Lawrence Gorricho stressed the importance of using vests. “All fishermen had the halter dress, which was critical in terms of safety. It is important that those responsible continue to have this attention to ensure safety,” he said.

Source Volunteer Fire Department Vieira told Lusa agency that the victims were rescued by 9:40 a.m. and “evaluated ashore by firefighters and the elements of the Medical Car Emergency and Resuscitation (VMER) Leiria,” but “there was no need for transportation to the hospital.”

On site were 15 elements of firefighters, backed by six vehicles, as well as elements of VMER, Maritime Police, Civil Protection and GNR.
