The project started in 2013 and has had three missions but shorter. Now it will be 365 days to test 6 people as if they were in Martian soil. No privacy, no fresh air, no fresh food is the challenge that these four Americans, a German and a Frenchman will face.
Among the NASA team chosen for this mission there is an astrobiologist, a physicist, a pilot, architect, journalist and an expert in soil. Go live in a metal frame shaped like dome 11 meters in diameter and 6 meters high, located in Hawaii, near an inactive volcano.
Volunteers may leave this new home, on occasion, but always with a dress spacesuit. The power will be made to canned base.
A NASA researcher explains that more than a mission to explore the technical and scientific aspects of a foray to Mars, the experience aims to explore the potential interpersonal problems that can result from living in these conditions that are not perhaps extreme, are certainly unusual.
