The Competition Authority (CA) today announced that five companies condemned by anti-competitive practices in public procurement markets for prefabricated to Parque Escolar company, applying fines of more than 800,000 euros in total.
In a statement, the CA said that the company Algeco – Prefabricated buildings, Elevatrans – Precast, Vendap Group, Movex – Production, Sale and Prefabricated modules Rental and EMU – Steel Structures Unit were ordered to pay fines “totaling 831,810 euros for anti-competitive practices in public procurement procedures launched by the Parque Escolar, between 2009 and 2010″
According to the. Governor, these contests were meant to supply and assembly in rental regime of prefabricated modules for pre-installation of classrooms for the operation of school activities during the works of the School Modernisation Programme.
“The investigation of the PCA revealed that between 2009 and 2010, these companies have entered into and executed an agreement with each other for market sharing and fixing the level of prices, with the object of restricting and distorting sensitively competition in the supply market and assembly of prefabricated modules in the context of identified procurement “it said.
” In particular, companies manipulated the respective tender offers, setting the level of the same prices, order to artificially determine the winner of each competition, “the competition.
