” Free Hungary, internet release, “protesters chanted. “Not only because of the rate of Internet. We are fed up with the government. We are tired of the stealing and corruption, “said a Hungarian who participated in the protest.

The protesters asked the extinction of the bill. According to them, the new rate will increase the value of the internet in Hungary, and also decrease the expression and access to information in the country.

The law was drafted by the finance minister Mihaly Varga and imposes a rate of 150 Guilders (US $ 1.50) per gigabyte transferred. The current proposal is part of the tax bill for 2015, which was prepared by the current government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban and presented to parliament last week.

As proposed, with the taxation of the traffic Internet could raise more funds for the country, which suffers from internal as well as external debt.

The proposal was reviewed by the leader of the ruling bloc of the Hungarian Parliament and suggested a tax ceiling of 7.20 reais for consumers and 51.94 for real companies. The proposal was not accepted by the protesters.

The protesters have warned that, if the proposal is not extinct in the next few hours, a new event will happen on the 28th.
