Hungarians protest held due to tax to the internet – The Ball

Thousands of people took to the streets in protest against the Government’s proposal led by Viktor Orban to create a new tax in 2015 for the internet.

The tax of about 48 cents per gigabyte to apply part of the project tax bill for next year prepared by the Executive, and was presented to parliament last week. Although users are not directly the target, it is estimated that the tax will be reflected in the prices of services. The protests, however, are not just the financial issue.

Shouts of “Free Internet! Free Country! “And” Censorship! Censorship! “Were chanted during the protest march, reports The Wall Street Journal
