About 7 million of Dropbox accounts may have been compromised by a group of hackers. Information relating to users of that popular service for sharing and storing files have been released online.
Dropbox, in turn, claims to have been the victim of any cyber attack. The company recognizes that the data disclosed may belong to its users, but says they were not obtained with an attack on the service. According to Dropbox, data obtained by the hackers have been stolen from other sites, although they have been used to attempt to access the accounts of the company’s service.
The Dropbox also notes that most of the disclosed passwords have already expired. Available information suggests that the service will have taken the initiative to force users to reset the accounts affected their access data.
