Google announced new measures to penalize websites that host pirated goods such as movies, music, games and books, according to information contained in the new edition of the report “How Google Fights Piracy 2014″ (“How to fight Google piracy “in free translation) and published on Tuesday (21).
The new system allows the search site can not show the platforms that offer pirated content, along to provide the user with results legitimate and legalized content. These measures shall be implemented from next week.
Regarding efforts to decrease the ranking of pirate sites, Google refers to platforms that have received a lot of complaints on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the American copyright law.
According to the report, in 2003, the search giant received 224,000 complaints of sites with illegal content and blocked 99% of these.
The report also reveals that, with the “Content ID” program distributed $ 1 billion (about £ 2.49 billion) to owners copyright by YouTube.
