PlayStation Network, one of the largest networks of games online in the world, was dormant for long hours on Sunday after an attack led out by the group of hackers Lizard Squad. At the same time, a plane that followed the president of Sony, the company that owns the network was forced to an emergency landing due to a bomb threat

It is unclear whether there is a relationship between the two attacks and what it can be. But the attacks on network games online became frequent. The Sunday usual assumed the shape of a Denial of Service Attack (DOD), ie, an offensive that is to send to the network in question such a large number of concurrent requests it loses responsiveness.

The company guarantees that no private information of users was stolen and has managed to restore service. However, the game servers as “League of Legends” and “World of Wacraft” were also under attack.

Regarding Sony President John Smedley, whose plane followed from Dallas to San Diego and had to be diverted to Phoenix, only said, via Twitter, that everything was fine and that “justice will catch these guys.” The FBI did not say it was also the Lizard Squad sending a bomb threat.

Groups unrelated to the attacks seem to be trying to use them to promote their own causes. While messages appeared to assume responsibility and to explain that it was retaliation for certain commercial practices, other messages said that Westerners had no right to play games online while the heroes of the State Islamic were bombarded by American planes.
