The Lexus released a video with images showing a project that created a replica of the model Lexus IS made of cardboard, and eventually winning the suggestive name of “Origami Car”. According to information that has been disclosed, it is a real model of car, and that has a real engine.
The initial objective of the project was to celebrate the skills of its craftsmen, which are called “takumis”, and also capture a new spirit of creation. The work created is really impressive, having to be made with a total of 1,700 sheets of cardboard were recycled. To achieve the necessary precise cuts, they were made by laser.
cardboard sheets were glued with a glue mix made with a water-based. For each layer created had to wait a full 10 minutes, which ends up giving the size of this great manual work.
But the car was not created just to stand still. He won an electric motor actually housed in a steel and aluminum structure which was adapted into the model.
