The GNR will involve on Sunday more than 200 military a speed control operation, especially in highways and urban roads, the corporation announced today.
“Operation Mercury” runs across the country and actions, explains the GNR in a statement, focus on “ways where the offenses for speeding are more frequent and lead to an increased risk of traffic accidents, particularly on motorways and on roads situated within the localities.”
In a statement the GNR remember that speeding is one of the main causes of serious road accidents in Portugal, with operations such as those Sunday are common.
Since the beginning of the year and to date have been controlled more than four million vehicles (4,128,744), of which 86,380 were circulating over the speed limit, also said the GNR.
