“Risk On Wheels” assesses the level of risk on a scale from zero to one hundred and using three colors. On the scale, the number 0 is a level of zero accidents, while 100 is a high alert. The three colors – green, yellow and red – represent low, medium and high risk, respectively
The project was developed by six students of the AU, attending the 3rd year of Computer and Telematics Engineering. the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics. The application will contain data such as the age of the driver, the hours of rest, the speed, the type of vehicle you drive or accident history.
“The factors considered for the calculation of risk are not only intrinsic the user and external, “said John Santos, one of the students who, together with colleagues John Flora, Horta Duarte, Sara Loureiro, Ana Rodrigues and Ana Madalena Barbosa, created the application.
The application does not only analyzes factors related to the driver, but also integrates external factors such as weather conditions, accidents there are nearby and the history of accidents where the driver passes. When the risk of accident is high, the application issues an alert tone.
So, explains João Santos, “two people always have very different risk profiles and risk factors themselves vary according to the day and time. “
