Three municipalities in the districts of Santarém and Castelo Branco present today maximum risk of fire, according to information available on the website of the Sea Portuguese Institute and the Atmosphere (IPMA) on the Internet.
According to IPMA, on high fire risk are the municipalities of Macau and Sardoal (Santarém) and Vila de Rei (Castelo Branco).
The IPMA also put on very high risk of fire the municipalities of Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé and Alcoutim (Faro), Alcacer do Sal (Setúbal), Chamusca, Torres Novas, Abrantes, Tomar, Ferreira do Zêzere (Santarém), Ponte de Sor and Gavião (Portalegre), Figueiró dos wines, Pedrógão Grande (Leiria), Oleiros and Sertã (Castelo Branco), Lousã (Coimbra), Trancoso (Guarda), Sernancelhe, Moimenta da Beira, Vila Nova de Paiva (Viseu), Castelo de Paiva, Arouca (Aveiro) and Valongo (Porto).
The risk of fire determined by IPMA includes five levels, ranging from small and maximum.
The calculation is based on the values observed at 13:00 each day relative to the air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the past 24 hours.
The National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC) recorded on Wednesday 45 fires, which were opposed by 668 operating with the support of 189 vehicles.
The IPMA provides for today on the continent sky slightly overcast or clean, weak to moderate wind from the east quadrant, moderate blowing from the northwest on the west coast during the afternoon, and small temperature rise.
