Women who make careers in science laboratories should work only with other women because distract men from their work, fall in love by colleagues and cry when they are criticized. This is the view of Tim Hunt, British biochemist who was honored in 2001 with the Nobel Prize for Medicine for discovering the protein molecules that control cell division.
Hunt made their comments during a toast with presents a luncheon, during a conference in South Korea, organized precisely for women scientists.
The investigator, 72, starred in an unusual moment, since after making the comments the way the work of colleagues decided in a rush, to position itself as “chauvinist pig”, leaving those who watched slack-jawed, says the British newspaper Independent.
The uncomfortable situation was widely publicized on social networks, with several scientists to take to Twitter ironic reactions to the words of Nobel.
