The age of the driver, the speed driving, the weather, the type of vehicle or hours of rest are just some of the relevant factors to measure the risk of accident.
A couple of others, such as accident history in every meter of road, are on the list of aspects considered and weighted in a mobile application developed by students of the University of Aveiro, designed to measure, in real time, the risk of accident.
Throughout the journey passengers will receive information on the risk level of the journey they are doing, taking into account the different weighting factors. The information is presented by color and on a scale of 0 to 100. When the risk level increases and approaches the maximum there is a beep to strengthen the warning.
The application was developed by six students of the 3rd year of Computer Engineering and Telematics Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI).
It can be downloaded for free in the Google Play and also has a website where support is registered the travel history and information on the risks incurred in each of the paths.
