The Snapchat changed the company name to Snap, and presented Spectacles, glasses that record and take pictures, in addition to the post directly on the social network. The two new products were announced this Saturday (24).
"We decided to take the 'chat' and go Snap Inc.", announced Evan Spiegel, one of the creators and executive director of the application, in a note. The name of the application remains the same.
Already the Spectacles are glasses with a built-in camera that can access the internet via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to post on Snapchat. The images will be written with the perspective that uses the glasses, with an opening of 115 degrees. Will have circular shape, but may be played back in full screen.
according To Snapchat, these glasses have the autonomy energy to work during a day before needing a new refill. Will be offered three versions with different colors. The Snap is not reported when the devices begin to be sold.
"When we were just starting out, it made sense to name our company like Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product. Now that we are developing other products, such as Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond a single product –but that does not make popularity and the fun of our team," said Spiegel.
"Changing our name also has another benefit: when you search for our products, it will be easier to find relevant information about them instead of information, boring information about the company or the financial analyses. You can search for Snapchat or Spectacles for the fun things and leave Snap Inc. to the crowd of Wall Street," joked Spiegel.
