Laptop Yoga Lenovo prevented from using the Linux – Exame Informática

There are several models of portable Yoga, Lenovo, that don’t run Linux operating systems. Consumer complaints began to circulate on the Internet, and specialised sites have even notice that the incompatibility with the Linux operating systems would be related to an alleged agreement with Microsoft. The news were based on statements of an employee of Lenovo, but the chinese brand did not take much time to launch a second official explanation for the blocking of Linux operating systems: after all, models Yoga does not run with Linux operating systems due to the use of a new data storage system, which records data more quickly.

Though the Lenovo deny any agreement to block the competition with Microsoft, the BBC reminds us that the incompatibility was only found in laptops that have the "signature edition" of Windows 10, which is distinguished by the installation of the operating system without accessory tools or dispensable.

According to the Lenovo is the adoption of the data storage system RAID the cause of this incompatabilidade. The chinese brand says that, as soon as the different operating systems of family of Linux, they have updated the codes to work with RAID, the incompatibility has been remedied.

“Lenovo doesn’t block intentionally the consumers from using other operating systems on your devices, and is fully committed to providing the certifications, and the instructions for installation of Linux in a wide range of products,” said Lenovo cited by the BBC.
