Fires: 2 680 fires recorded in the first 15 days of August – Daily News – Lisbon

In the first half of August there were 2680 wildfires: more than a third (986) began during the night, between 20:00 and 08:00, continuing a trend that authorities had indicated

Last Sunday was the day with more fires (379), mobilizing operational 8,150, 2,107 terrestrial means and the use of aircraft by 138 times, according to information available today in the ‘site’ of the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC ).

The fires were fought by 63,179 operating, using 16,271 terrestrial means and the use of air assets 1,210 times, according to the ‘site’ of the ANPC.

In July the first month of the most critical stage in forest fires, there were 4,056 fires, according to the same source.

Between January 1 and July 31 there were 10,695 fires, while in the same period last year had triggered 4165, said earlier this month the national operational commander.
