Sales in retail trade slowed in July, growing 1.6% over the same month last year, and increased 1.2% compared to June, said the National Statistics Institute (INE).

                     

                          In annual terms, the sector’s business increased in June (2.6%) was higher than the annual change of 1.6% recorded in July.

Turnover the group of non-food products increased by 1.5% in July year on year, down from 4.3% the previous month, while the food of grouping index rose 0.4% in June to an increase of 1.8% in July, compared to the same month last year.

The employment index in retail trade continued in July, the annual growth observed in June (1.4%). Already the annual change in the working volume in retail trade was also 1.4% in July, against 1.2% in June.

Compared to the previous month, the turnover index in retail trade increased by 1.2% in July. The remuneration rate on the year change of 4.3% in July, against 3.3% in June.
