Study shows that cyberbullying is also a reality in … – TeK.sapo

According to data compiled by the educational institution, in a study conducted in academic year 2000/2001, the classes of 7th and 10th grade, 31% of admitted students know a colleague who has been “threatened or enjoyed on the Internet.”

Since 13% of 10th grade students report having ever been threatened at least one occasion, in cyberspace, this being more significant percentage (19%) for young Vocational courses.

In the analysis, which is part of the doctoral thesis “Bullying in Schools: Prevention and Intervention” by José Sá Ilídio, it is emphasized that cyberbullying unquestionably reflects a more complex form of bullying. “In many cases, appears as a continuation of classroom bullying, but in other situations emerged as the ‘favorite space aggressor’,” said the director of the Group of Schools Dr. Manuel Gomes de Almeida (Thorn).

The anonymity or false identity of the offender, the huge amount of observers, viral propagation speed of offenses, assaults and humiliations, or even the ease of access and ease of Internet access, smartphones with photographic camera and video, tablets and the amount of jobs available with computers “make this problem extremely difficult to combat and eradicate”.
