Paulo Portas believes that agriculture is a sector with a future – The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed, on Monday, with the numbers achieved by agricultural exports, considering that this is a ‘future industry and not a relic of the past ‘.
On a visit to the International Food and Beverage Show (SISAB) in Lisbon, Paulo Portas emphasized that the weight of the agri-food and forestry exports is currently about 20 percent of the total.
For doors, the current executive could well take advantage of the EU funds for agriculture, stressing that Portugal is no longer the “worst country in payments to farmers, to be on the list of which make better use PRODER [Rural Development Programme].”
