Ban Ki-Moon calls for international aid to fight outbreak of Ebola – The Ball

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon wants to stop transmission of the virus in the “next nine months”, and called for international help to combat Ebola, according to Reuters news agency.

“The number of cases is increasing exponentially. The disease is spreading faster than the answer. People are increasingly frustrated “, said the leader of the organization.

Ban Ki-Moon believes that to stop the virus 600 million (€ 462.98 million) will be needed, about 80 million more than was disclosed in the fight against Ebola plan, released by the World Health Organization (WHO) in late August, which defined the actions to be taken to contain the outbreak.

“We need contributions,” continued the secretary general, “people, material and funding – from governments, private sector, financial institutions, non-governmental organizations and other groups.”
