Union UGT strike to mark May 1 in hyper and … – Porto Canal

Lisbon, April 21 (AFP) – The Union of Workers and Service Technicians (SITESE) today announced a strike by employees of the distribution companies to May 1 against the reduction of wages and rights and respect for the Day worker.

“The SITESE submitted a strike notice to allow all workers under the same conditions, enjoying holiday that is all, as they see fit,” says the union, affiliated to the UGT, in a statement.

In the notice of strike, SITESE still moved the protest with the need to combat insecurity in the sector and the attempt to reduce wages and rights on the part of employers.

The Union of Trade and Services (CESP), affiliated to the CGTP, decided on Tuesday to mark May Day strike 01 for hypermarkets and supermarkets in defense of wage increases and improvement of work.

The degradation of working conditions, increasing demands on business and the wage freeze for the last five years are, according to the CESP, the main reasons that led to the marking of the strike.

In recent years, the CESP has issued notice of strike for the 1st May, to give the possibility to workers of super and hypermarket celebrate Labor Day, but this year, the goal of the strike not only will this “because it has to do with the employment status specifies these” employees.
