Research centers honor Mariano Gago

five minutes of activities stop.

The Portuguese scientific community will honor, to Monday 12:00, the former Science Minister Mariano Gago, with a five minute stop the activities of the centers research and colleges.


In a statement, a group of scientists and researchers stated that, “as a public recognition of the national scientific community for their contribution” Mariano Gago, research centers and colleges will stop their normal activities for five minutes on Monday at 12.00, performing a rally in front of the main doors of the respective institutions.


With this honor, the scientific community wants to address the passage and the contribution to the Portuguese science Mariano Gago, who died on Friday, at age 66, victim of sudden death, after nearly two years of fighting cancer.


“Professor Mariano Gago boosted and deeply marked the science in Portugal in recent decades, contributing decisively as President of the Foundation for Science and Technology and Minister of Science for the development of national scientific system in many of its aspects”, said the group scientists and researchers from several research centers and colleges in the country.


funeral of former Science Minister and Higher Education Mariano Gago, will be held this Saturday at the cemetery of Pechão, Olhão, where will follow at 12.00, after the ceremonies in the Basilica da Estrela in Lisbon.
