“I do not think the understanding [between majority PSD / CDS and PS] is as difficult today as I was yesterday [Monday],” said António Saraiva on ongoing negotiations in Parliament for the choice of new president of the ESC.
António Saraiva was speaking to journalists after being reunited with the general secretary of the PS, António Costa, within a meeting with the employers’ confederations to analyze the socialist macroeconomic scenario.
The president of the CIP said that the issue of replacement Silva Peneda, who will take over from next month the president’s assistant to the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, will be debated on Wednesday, during a meeting Council of CES Coordinator.
“The parliamentary parties submit names and hopefully there exit a solution,” said António Saraiva, defending, for now, the solution of Manuel Lemos (leader of the Portuguese Mercies Union) CES as transitional leader.
“There is a timeline that must be ensured and there are issues which pertain to CES. This emptiness will not exist and Manuel Lemos is a good name for this transitional period, “said the president of the CIP.
António Saraiva showed up after conviction of a parliamentary solution to a future lasting, in President of the ESC.
“The name that may arise from the parliament is in a position to then continue in the post-election period”, he said.
