Despite the DTT no longer be a topic of the day, the National Communications Authority (ANACOM) has now compel MEO operator to provide information on the digital terrestrial television (DTT) since this operator is responsible for managing the digital terrestrial television network.
This measure is justified since people affected by these situations are entitled to be reimbursed by the MEO for the costs incurred or that will determine whether, in consequence of this change. It is recalled that, with digital TV, 100% of the population has free access to DTT, the overwhelming majority by land and about 7.5% satellite (DTH).
In addition to providing the site DTT a file with information structured by district / county / town / village, with the date on which the coverage changes were made, was still determined to MEO to send the same information to all Parish Councils where some locality, or parts of sites, has been affected by the change of information about the type of coverage available. In this way, the Parish Councils shall be permitted to provide information to people that are digital television users
In the same decision has been imposed on that MEO always have to have to make changes to the DTT network to ensure the terrestrial coverage levels of the population, must provide and maintain updated in site DTT (www.tdt.telecom.pt) information with the issuer’s statement best-server . It is recalled that it is up to MEO fully assume the additional burden that people may suffer with the reorientation of receiving antennas, DTT receiver tuning and / or replacement / amplifier tuning.
Recall people who need to purchase a DTH kit to ensure receipt of the DTT service in satellite coverage with areas may qualify for a share that seeks to ensure the equalization of costs between those who are in an area with land cover and in an area with coverage satellite. This assistance is provided by MEO, as is clear from the decision of ANACOM April 7, 2011, and runs until 2023.
