“A patient was today transferred to the prison hospital of Caxias to remain stable, two remain under ventilatory support, without improvements, and the prognosis,” the Board of Directors of Local Health Unit (LHU) White Castle in a statement sent to Lusa agency.

                     


                          According to the ULS, the remaining three prisoners “remain hospitalized without ventilatory support for more than 48 hours” and added that the institution “does not have additional information on the chemical involved in poisoning.” The Directorate General of Rehabilitation and Prison Services (DGRSP) reported on Monday that the hospitalization of Castelo Branco prison inmates is being investigated by the Judicial Police of Coimbra and by prosecutors.

The Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation into the case connected to the illegal entry of substances in Castelo Branco Prison.
