The Ministers of Transport of the European Union (EU) approved today in Brussels, the installation of automatic emergency call devices (eCall) in motor vehicles manufactured after 2018.
The system emergency calls is designed to make faster emergency services at EU level in the event of a crash, is expected to help reduce the number of fatalities.
From March 31 2018, the eCall wireless devices will be installed, which automatically activate an alarm signal to the European emergency number, 112.
The eCall, which will be compatible with satellite navigation systems, should reduce for half the response time to emergencies.
The infrastructure for eCall to be operational by October 1, 2017 and its use will be accessible to all consumers and free.
