As “if you do not stop progress,” the company running the app has already announced it will appeal the decision.
“We will continue to operate in Germany and we will appeal the recent lawsuit filed by Taxi Deutschland in Frankfurt,” said company spokesman, in an interview with BBC.
The application was already banned in other German cities, including Berlin and Hamburg. With the accumulation of lawsuits filed by the association of taxi drivers Taxi Deutschland, the judge of the court of Frankfurt simplified restriction to extend it to the whole country, validating the claim that the Uber provides a service of irregular and unauthorized transport.
For each user who is detected using the service the company will pay a fine of 250 000 euros.
From outside the ban is ‘UserBlack’ option, since it has specific characteristics: limousines with drivers licenses are rented. This is the only option of Uber in Lisbon, the only Portuguese city where the service is available.
The association of taxi drivers welcomed the sentence, noting (in a statement) that the transport of customers “can not be done without permission of the public authority and accreditation of drivers.”
In addition to Germany, Uber is banned in Belgium and in cities like London and Paris.
