Digital Foundry tests the beta 2 Titanfall on PS4 and Xbox One – Eurogamer.pt

With the arrival of the beta Titanfall 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the Digital Foundry had the opportunity to test the performance of this fast action shooter and find out how is their quality. The original was released initially as an exclusive Xbox One and PC later came to the Xbox 360, while its sequel will also be released on PlayStation 4 and give us a good opportunity to test the game.

Something please immediately is the disappearance of screen-tearing, something that was present in the original, and although the game achieve the desired 60fps with v-sync constant, important for a game of this nature, there are frequent falls and consistency of the game may be compromised . However, still a long time until October 28, the release date, so the optimization should correct many of these problems.

The PlayStation 4 version shows good developments on the original, especially in lighting that gives greater depth to the scenarios, and run to 900p in this beta. This in itself is an improvement over the first Titanfall 2 on Xbox One. Despite achieving notice in some elements of the resolution conversion artifacts, the game is clean enough to make the quality of very appealing overall image.

the game continues to run a highly modified version of the Source engine and have immense amplified effects such as brightness or alpha, which give us a more chaotic aspect of the game, which becomes more fun. The Respawn Entertainment beautified immense the most important elements of this engine.

After the PS4 version, the Digital Foundry looked at the Xbox One version and compared the beta results with what we saw in the original. The main issue is the image quality and resolution. Although descend 790P document in Microsoft console, the beta Titanfall 2 runs 720p but with a reconstruction technique, or a temporal antialiasing technique very aggressive, similar to Quantum Break in Xbox One which results in a softer image but clean and moving is spectacular.

more vivid colors, more detailed environments and in general have a stronger visual apparatus, which makes us highly pleased. As with the PlayStation 4 version, the screen-tearing disappeared and the performance profile is highly similar to what we have in the Sony console. Often holds out in such important 60fps, suffering from occasional falls, but overall the experience is smooth. Only when we have many alpha effects near the screen is that we have the strongest falls.

An improved image quality and a solid performance on Xbox One, show that Titanfall 2 is already pretty solid in its beta version, something that will leave happy players.

During gamescom, Digital Foundry also had the opportunity to know a little of the campaign and despite the linearity of the various corridors, we also have broad levels that leverage pilot mobility for good platform sections. The single player mode of Titanfall 2 left good indications and may even surprise some players, not being in any way a mere copy of what we see in other series.
