Seven islands of the Azores under orange warning because of heavy rain – Digital Journal

 
 Seven islands of the central and eastern groups of the Azores are now under notice orange, the more serious second in a scale of four, due to the forecast of heavy rain, according to the Portuguese Institute of Ocean and Atmosphere.
    
 

According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the central groups (Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico and Faial) and Eastern (São Miguel and Santa Maria) Azores will be under orange warning between 05:00 and 12:00 today due to the forecast of heavy rain.

Heavy rain forecast also took the IPMA put the western group (Flores and Corvo) under yellow warning between 05:00 and 12:00.

The institute also put the Azores under yellow warning, the third most serious of a four-scale due to the forecast of thunderstorms.

On Thursday, the Azores archipelago was under red warning, the most serious of a four-scale, mainly affecting the island of São Miguel and Terceira.

In the northeast of the county, São Miguel island, bad weather caused damage to 21 houses and eight families had to sleep away from home.

The orange warning implies a weather situation of moderate to high risk while yellow is the third most serious a four-scale and is issued whenever there is a risk for certain activities that depend on the weather.

The IPMA provides for today in eastern and central groups sky cloudy, with open from afternoon, rain and showers, which occasionally may be strong during the night and early morning and wind weak southern quadrant bonançoso.

In the Western group is forecast to sky cloudy, with open to from morning showers that may occasionally be strong during the night and wind weak west quadrant bonançoso.

Cruz das Flores temperatures will range between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius in Horta and Angra do heroism between 19:25 and Ponta Delgada between 18 and 24
