The payment of user fees for voluntary interruption of pregnancy (IVG) shall enter into force on 1 October, according to legislation published today in the Official Gazette.
The law, enacted on 26 August by the President of the Republic, Cavaco Silva, provides “the payment of user fees in the interruption of pregnancy when it is carried out by women’s option, in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy” .
According to the Ministry of Health, the value of prescription charges for IVG will be 7.75 euros, which is the same as applied to a specialty consultation.
Earlier August, the Ministry of Health has advanced to the Lusa agency that decided “to act on an opinion of the General Directorate of Health, to the restraining fee to be charged, to correspond to the value of a specialty consultation ‘, getting free the remaining procedures associated with the interruption.
