HP will divide business for two companies – TeK.sapo

The current CEO, Meg Whitman, will lead a new company dedicated to infrastructure, software and services for the enterprise market, which currently constitute the most valuable areas of the company. This new organization will operate under the name Hewlett-Packard Enterprise.

Within the current HP (which will be termed HP Inc) are the areas of personal computing and printing. The company is now led by Dion Weisler, which now runs the business units relating to business PCs, and printing on American manufacturer.

In the official announcement of the reorganization HP also said that revised the projected redundancies this year. The list of 45 000 to 50 000 employees that the company intended to lay off this year, will join over 5000. The prediction of redundancies now rises to 55 000.

In recent years, HP has undertaken a major restructuring, which has gradually led to the divestment of the group in the areas of personal computing, in favor of more lucrative areas such as business services.

The TeK already asked the HP Portugal a comment about the local impact of the measures announced this Monday.
